“The Heat Is On” Nets $15,000 Donation to Opportunity Village

For the third year in a row, Dollar Loan Center CEO Chuck Brennan gave $15,000 to Opportunity Village from its annual “Heat Is On” summer promotion. Since 2010, the company has pledged $100 to the Las Vegas charity for every day the temperature in Southern Nevada reaches 100 degrees or more.

This year, the Las Vegas valley recorded 81 days of 100 + degree temperatures, up from 73 days in 2011. The company continued its tradition of rounding its commitment up to $15,000 for Opportunity Village.

“Dollar Loan Center is the perfect example of a caring, concerned local business that supports the community in which it operates,” said Linda Smith, chief development officer and Foundation associate executive director at Opportunity Village “’The Heat is On’ is a terrific fundraiser. Every day it is over 100 degrees, a cheer goes up at Opportunity Village! We are very grateful for our relationship with Dollar Loan Center and Chuck Brennan. There are three thousand people with disabilities and their families who call them heroes.”

Opportunity Village is one of Brennan’s favorite non-profits. In addition to his $45,000 in donations from the past three “Heat Is On” campaigns, he also supports the charity’s events and even creates his own fun challenges to raise money. In 2011, Brennan pledged $100 for every touchdown his favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders, scored during the regular season.

The team scored 38 touchdowns and Brennan donated $3,800 to Opportunity Village. “It was a great way to cheer on the team and raise money for this great organization,” he said. “Opportunity Village does great work in Southern Nevada. It is a pleasure to help organizations that care so much about our community.”

Opportunity Village is Nevada’s largest not-for-profit organization serving citizens with intellectual disabilities. It provides job training, employment and other important programs and services that enable its clients to live productive, engaged lives.

Brennan has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to community organizations including Opportunity Village and Henderson Little League. In both 2011 and 2012, Brennan was the largest single supporter of both Henderson Little League, which serves more than 600 youth baseball players, and Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Foundation, which helps at risk youth in the Phoenix area.

Brennan is the majority owner of Dollar Loan Center and dontbebroke.com with 75 locations throughout California, Southern Nevada, South Dakota, and Utah.  This year, the company was named a “Best Place To Work” In Southern Nevada by Vegas Inc magazine.  Dollar Loan Center has received several industry awards from their peers for charitable work.  For more information, visit www.dontbebroke.com.
