Meanwhile local businesses are stepping in to help federal workers during the shutdown.
The founder of Dollar Loan Center, Chuck Brennan, also sent a letter to Governor Steve Sisolak saying that they would be offering interest-free loans of up to $2,500 to federal workers who are impacted.
“We don’t see this as a charity, we see this as a duty and I think a lot of businesses in Nevada need to take this duty on. Although there’s a lot of furloughed employees, there’s not that many. We need to help them out and a lot of businesses have been doing great things to help them out and with us providing these free loans for $2,500, I really think it’ll be make a major impact. These people need money to take on their day-to-day tasks.”
And they say there won’t be any payments required until after the end of the shutdown.
