Participants are invited to upload their entries to Dollar Loan Centerâs Facebook page online to enter. As long as the images are winter holiday themed, the photos can involve any subject the entrant chooses – children, couples, weddings, pets, parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, neighbors and co-workers. The deadline for entry is Dec. 20, 2011.
âWe absolutely love the holidays,â said Dollar Loan Center CEO Charles Brennan. âWe thought The Very Merry Holiday Photo Contest would a great way to celebrate the season.â
Photos entered in the Very Merry Holiday Photo Contest can range from the simple to the outrageous. âSo your snapshot of the family in matching reindeer sweaters can compete with someone elseâs shot of a red nosed pet cockatiel in a pear tree,â said Brennan.
âThe holidays are a fun time of year and everyone has their own funny stories behind their photos,â he said. âWhat better way to get rewarded for sharing them than with cash prizes?â
All photos will be judged for content and composition as well as popularity. Entrants will be asked to advertise their own entry to solicit Facebook âlikesâ from friends and neighbors. Dollar Loan Centerâs panel will judge entries based on best portrayal of a festive holiday, most compelling family photo, overall best appearance and originality.
âIt will be up to you to get your friends, frenemies, families, neighbors, acquaintances, pals, BFFs, blogging friends, co-workers, mailmen, high school friends, college roommates and anyone else to âlikeâ your photo,â he said.
The grand prize in Dollar Loan Centerâs Very Merry Holiday Photo Contest is $500, with the first runner up receiving $250, second runner up receiving $150 and third runner up receiving $100.

â15 Foundation is an incredible organization that helps those who are in the trenches helping people every day,â said Brennan. âI am honored to assist in their efforts to improve academics, nutrition and arts education in schools across the country and look forward to seeing what they can do with this donation.â
15 Foundation is a philanthropic initiative Quivers founded in 2010 with a mission to target organizations that are tackling some of the most pressing issues in U.S. communities. Proceeds from its donations have benefited organizations nationwide. Proceeds from its latest fundraising efforts went towards the assistance of two California based youth charities–The Edible School Yard in Berkley and Connolly Ranch in Napa Valley. Both are dedicated to teaching children about good food nutrition and helping them establish the right eating habits early in life, setting a pattern for success.
“That was a dream experience for me, but there are many other ways to help deserving organizations at any budget,â said Brennan. âI work with a group called charitybuzz that helps raise money for deserving non-profits that donors may not know about.â
charitybuzz is a cause marketing organization based in New York City. It connects non-profits with international brands and celebrity icons to raise funds through innovative online auctions including pop culture experiences, VIP events, luxury travel, fine art, couture fashion, coveted internships and upscale merchandise. Since launching, charitybuzz has raised more than $50 million for charities around the globe.
Charles Brennan recently began working with charitybuzz and said it has multiple benefits for individual and organization
donors. âThey find non-profits in all areas of the country that are doing great work and need funding,â he said. âPlus the auction format makes giving even easierâ¦especially when you get to have unique experiences that are tailored to your interests.â
Charles Brennanâs experiences through charitybuzz have included a day on the set of HBOâs hit show Entourage as well as a meeting with television producer and star Larry David. âI spent the day with the cast and crew of Entourage when they were filming the series finale. Dollar Loan Center was one of two companies chosen among FiSCAâs 6,500 members for the prestigious FiSCA StAR Award. The award program was created in 2009 as part of FiSCAâs effort to encourage the industry to improve the overall appearance of its stores.
âOur FiSCA StAR award is issued to FiSCA members that operate stores in a manner that best exemplifies FiSCAâs Store Appearance Best Practices and whose companyâs image reflects positively on the industry,â said FiSCA chairman Joseph Coleman. âThey show that Dollar Loan Center is an excellent example of the positive ways our members impact their communities.â
Dollar Loan Center CEO Charles Brennan said the FiSCA StAR award is one of his proudest professional achievements. âThere are 6,500 financial service centers in the United States and for ours to be recognized as one of the two best really shows that we care about our company, our employees and our customers,â he said.
The FiSCA StAR award was presented to Dollar Loan Center for one of its stores in Sioux Falls, SD. The store has an open atmosphere free from bullet-proof glass, payment windows or any barriers between employees and customers. The professional yet inviting atmosphere helps make customers feel welcome, engaged and respected and offers an inviting alternative to the lobby operations common in the industry.
âFirst impressions are everything,â said Coleman. âFiSCA members value and recognize the importance of store appearance to the overall performance and profitability of their stores. Financial Service Centers need to keep store appearance on par with other financial service businesses such as banks and credit unions as well as other retail establishments in the neighborhood. These initiatives are important to our entire industry and how we as a whole are perceived. Congratulations to Dollar Loan Center for setting high standards that the rest of our industry can follow.â
Dollar Loan Center received FiSCAâs Activa Award for its 2010 âHeat Is Onâ campaign in Las Vegas. The campaign is held every summer and provides $100 to charity for each day the temperatures reach 100 degrees or more. Fox 5 Las Vegas television weathercasters track the donations and share the progress with the public from May through September. Donations, which totaled $15,000 per year in the 2010 and 2011 campaigns, are given to Las Vegas charity Opportunity Village.
âOpportunity Village is an organization that helps people with intellectual disabilities lead more productive and interesting lives,â said Dollar Loan Center CEO Charles Brennan. âThey help our communityâs citizens that canât otherwise help themselves by providing jobs, vocational training and recreational services. The âHeat Is Onâ campaign is a great way to raise money for them and have fun doing it.â
