Dollar Loan Center Tells Competitors To âPlank Offâ
Planking is a popular online game in which participants photograph themselves lying face-down with their arms to their sides in unusual places. The movement began gaining its recent popularity with a Facebook group that now has nearly 800,000 followers. Players have photographed themselves on the ground, tables, chairs, mailboxes, cars and other unusual places. The game has even hit the celebrity circuit, with Chef Gordon Ramsey planking on a jet airplane and boat. Earlier this year, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner famously photographed himself planking on his dining room table.
âItâs a pretty simple concept and itâs all about having a little fun with our customers and competitors. We think there will be some pretty hilarious photos.â said Dollar Loan Center CEO Charles Brennan. âIf you want to enter the âPlank Offâ contest, just âlikeâ Dollar Loan Center on Facebook and upload your photo. We will choose winners each week of the contest and if you donât win one week you can resubmit your photo for the following weekâs prizes.â
Participants in the game must agree to Dollar Loan Centerâs terms for the contest, which are posted on the companyâs Facebook page.
Planking is also known as âthe lying down gameâ and players must be rigid, like a wooden plank, with their faces down and arms to their sides. Photographs are posted online. The game originated in England and has become a global phenomenon. It has also spawned similar crazes including âOwlingâ and âTeapotting,â in which participants arrange their bodies to look like owls and teapots.
